The “Biggest Little City in the World,” Reno is the more affordable, less glitzy sister of Vegas. Rumor has it, your chances are better here. Try your luck at three of the best casinos: the newer Silver Legacy, pink-neon Eldorado and Kid friendly Circus Circus. If gambling doesn’t lure you, Reno casinos are chock-full of entertainment. Search out a rum bar with dueling pianos, swimming pools, bowling alleys, a pizza café, steakhouses, live music, martini bars and arcades. The nightlife doesn’t end at the casino door either. Your options include classy wine bars, wild dance clubs, friendly sports bars and sensual lounges.

Reno isn’t adults-only, but its family friendly activities are parent approved too. Example – the Ultimate Rush Thrill Park, where you can hang-glide, bungee jump, fall from a 185-foot tower, race go-karts or simply mini-golf. Similarly, the Wild Island Family Adventure Park offers a water park with daredevil slides and wave pools, bowling, arcades and an adult lounge. X-Marks the Spot is the most fun way for families to explore downtown Reno. Race against other teams to navigate cryptic clues that lead to the finish line! For a more educational afternoon, visit the National Automobile Museum, The Nevada Discovery Museum or Sierra Safari Zoo.

What remains is the great outdoors. Choose from more than 50 golf courses or branch out and try disc golf. If you’d rather save putting for weekends back home, then try rock climbing, horseback riding, Hummer tours or fishing. Take advantage of the winding Truckee River and Lake Tahoo and get everyone screaming with whitewater rafting and open water kayaking. For an aerial view of the Sierra Nevada mountains, visitors get a thrill from paragliding and hot air balloon riding. Sky diving is also available. With an average of 40 feet of snow per year, winter brings other opportunities. Even if you’re having a blast at your casino resort, make sure you get some fresh air to snowmobile, snowshoe, inner-tube sled, dog sled or ice skate. Whatever the season, Reno is all laughs, indoors and out.
