Overview
Pasties originated in Cornwall, England, where wives would lovingly bake savory veggies and meat and/or sweets inside of a thin layer of pastry for the miners in town. The Cornish Pasty Co brings this meal to Mesa, with both traditional and original fillings. It also has a full bar, creating a welcoming pub atmosphere.
Try the classic Oggie stuffed with steak, potatoes, rutabaga and onions. The Chicken Greek is a very different experience full of chicken breast, spinach, mozzarella, feta, sun-dried tomatoes, Kalamata olives, artichokes and roasted garlic. Don’t forget a side of tzatziki!
Vegetarians and vegans are in luck, too. One option is the Eggplant Parmesan pasty, packed full of roasted eggplant, zucchini, broccoli, fresh mozzarella, spinach, fresh basil, parmesan and marinara.
With modestly priced meals, you’ll be able to splurge on an English-style dessert. Chocolate Bread and Butter Pudding is a satisfying choice. Homemade bread is baked in rich chocolate brandy sauce until it’s crispy on the outside and warm and moist in the middle. It’s served with crème anglaise or ice cream.
