Northwest of Austin you’ll find Lake Travis, a recreational paradise. A reservoir on the Colorado River, it’s the main body of water in the area. If you enjoy water sports, then rent a boat from a nearby marina or rental company. Sailing, parasailing and fishing are all great choices. Some even scuba dive the deep lake. If the family is in tow, then steer clear of Hippie Hollow Park, where nude bathing is common. Even if you’re not up for a day on the water, waterfront dining and shoreline hikes will allow you to take in the greenish blue water of Lake Travis.
